Collin County has appointed Kaleb Breaux as the new Elections Administrator, following Bruce Sherbet's retirement in December after nine years of service. Breaux's background includes a blend of government and private sector experience, with 12 years in public service and seven years working for an election vendor.

The Collin County Elections Commission unanimously selected Breaux. The commission comprises County Judge Chris Hill, County Clerk Stacey Kemp, Tax Assessor-Collector Scott Grigg, and the chairs of both the Republican and Democratic parties in Collin County. This unanimous decision reflects confidence in Breaux’s qualifications and his ability to gain trust across political lines.

Breaux began his career in election administration in 2006 when Jefferson County Clerk Carolyn Guidry hired him as an elections coordinator. Initially focused on designing ballots due to his journalism background, he soon developed a passion for the complexities of election work. “Through the years, I have come to love the challenges that elections bring and the people who resolve those challenges,” he said.

In his new role, Breaux plans to make minor adjustments rather than overhauling existing processes. He credits his predecessor Sherbet for leaving the department well-organized. “I don’t feel a need to completely change any one of our processes just to say, ‘I did that.’ Instead, I’m looking forward to making small tweaks to improve efficiency and excellence,” he stated.

Breaux aims to focus on poll worker recruitment, increasing public awareness about elections, and enhancing training programs. He is particularly interested in building trust within the electoral process by drawing inspiration from initiatives like Guadalupe County's election academy. “I hope to borrow that model and create something similar here in Collin County,” he explained.

Originally from Louisiana, Breaux has lived in North Texas since 2013 with his wife Jenni and their four children: Ella (20), Kamden (15), Carolina (11), and Norah (7). Outside work hours, he enjoys playing golf and attending concerts with Jenni.
