Scott Elementary’s Rob Fitzgerald and Vandeventer Middle’s Sarah Dickerson have been named Frisco ISD’s 2024-25 Teachers of the Year. Both educators were nominated and selected by their peers, along with 75 other campus winners. Each winner had the opportunity to apply for the district-wide honor.
Superintendent Dr. Mike Waldrip commented on the nominations, stating, “The nominations we received for these Campus Teachers of the Year were inspiring.” He praised each educator's stories and successes in celebrating student achievements.
The announcement took place at the National Soccer Hall of Fame, where all nominees, finalists, and winners were recognized with gifts from community sponsors. Additionally, the winners will receive a car for summer use from Park Place Plano.
Rob Fitzgerald has served as a fifth-grade teacher at Scott Elementary for nearly eight years. Known for his advocacy and authenticity, he is celebrated for tailoring instruction to suit students' interests. Principal Leanne Norris noted his ability to build lasting relationships with students who often return to express gratitude.
Fitzgerald's contributions extend beyond teaching; he created initiatives like "Scott Proud in the Morning" and mentors teachers within Frisco ISD’s Education and Training Pathway.
Sarah Dickerson has been a social studies teacher at Vandeventer since 2021. Her enthusiasm for history engages students deeply, transforming eighth-grade history into an engaging subject. Principal Stephanie Taylor remarked on her contagious enthusiasm and strong relationship-building skills.
Inspired by her grandfather's legacy as a college professor, Dickerson strives to emulate his impact on students' lives.
In addition to Fitzgerald and Dickerson, nine other finalists were recognized: Julie Chamberlain (Vaughn Elementary), Beth Jamison (Sparks Elementary), Danielle Morales (Sem Elementary), Hannah Zimmermann (Minett Elementary), Kendra Falslev (Panther Creek High School), Stacy Horton (Frisco High School), Neebelle Khromachou (Nelson Middle School), Cristopher Marshall (Heritage High School), and Kyle Wenokur (Emerson High School).
