Collin County Health Care Services has announced a confirmed case of measles involving a person who visited various public locations in Plano while infectious. The visits occurred on April 10 and 11, 2025.

This individual visited three retail locations during this period, possibly exposing others to measles, a highly contagious virus. Measles can linger in the air for up to two hours after an infected person exits an area.

Health authorities are advising anyone who patronized these locations during the specified times to check their vaccination status and watch for symptoms. The locations and times are as follows:

Walmart at 6001 N. Central Expy, Plano:

- April 10 (time unknown)

- April 11, from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM

Ross Dress for Less at 3300 N. Central Expy, Plano:

- April 11, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Dollar Tree at 2404 K Ave., Plano:

- April 11, in the evening (exact time unknown)

Those who are unvaccinated, immunocompromised, or pregnant and were present at these places during the exposure times are advised to contact their healthcare provider immediately. Common symptoms of measles include fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, conjunctivitis (pink eye), and a distinct blotchy rash.

Collin County officials are collaborating with the Texas Department of State Health Services to manage and respond to the situation.
