Mike R. Waldrip, Superintendent Frisco Independent School District | Official website
As the 2024-25 school year approaches, Frisco Independent School District (Frisco ISD) reminds families to be mindful of children walking or biking to school. Drivers are urged to observe speed limits in school zones, follow crossing guard directions, and avoid using phones in these areas. Extra travel time may be necessary.
Students and families will have opportunities to meet teachers and visit classrooms on specific dates: elementary schools and Wortham fifth grade on August 7, middle schools and Wortham sixth grade on August 20, high schools on August 26, and the Career and Technical Education Center on September 9. Academic calendars are available on the FISD website.
Middle school students will follow a modified block schedule with full eight-period days on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. On Wednesdays, they attend only "odd" classes; Thursdays are reserved for "even" classes. High school students adhere to an A/B calendar, attending four of their eight classes each day.
Elementary students will receive emails from homeroom teachers around Meet the Teacher night. Middle and high school students who completed registration by May 30 will receive class schedules around August 1. Campuses will send electronic reminders to parents who have not completed required items.
School supply lists for elementary and middle schools are posted online. High school supplies depend on course selections; teachers will inform students during the first week of classes. High school students should bring basic supplies like paper, a writing utensil, and a folder on the first day.
District Chromebooks should be brought fully charged by high school students. Algebra I students have access to TI-84 calculators during class. Kindergarteners through fifth graders use iPads or Chromebooks at a 1:1 ratio but do not take devices home.
High school students are encouraged to join the 1ForAll program while middle schoolers receive Chromebooks for home and school use. Secondary campuses manage device distribution plans individually. Starting August 2024, secondary students can enter helpdesk tickets via the Incident IQ tile in the Student Portal.
Technology support is available through various channels including a dedicated phone line (469-633-6222) during school hours and email support (1forall@friscoisd.org).
Meal prices are set at $2 for breakfast across all grades; lunch costs $2.75 for elementary students and $3.75 for middle/high schoolers. Additional servings incur a la carte charges. Meal account prepayments can be managed via SchoolCafe where daily menus can also be viewed.
Families eligible for meal benefits due to low income are encouraged to apply for reduced/free meals through Frisco ISD's Child Nutrition website which also provides guidance on dietary accommodations.
Transportation is provided for children living two miles or more from their assigned schools without needing prior registration or application. Families can check eligibility online along with bus routes and pickup times via the My Ride K-12 app.
Volunteer opportunities within Frisco ISD require background checks which can be submitted online alongside applications for district committees or PTA membership.
Teacher contact information is accessible under the Staff tab of campus websites where important updates are regularly posted. Parents are advised to opt-in for text message alerts by texting “Y” or “Yes” to 67587 for timely communications regarding closures or delays.
The Frisco ISD website serves as a central hub for district information alongside social media platforms including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, as well as newsletters subscriptions.
