Enrollment Analysis: Asian students comprised 6.3% of Mckinney ISD schools' student body in 2022-23 school year

There were 1,475 Asian students enrolled in Mckinney ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 17.2% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Mckinney ISD schools welcomed 23,342 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Asian students comprised 6.3% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Mckinney ISD roughly covers schools within Collin County and has a main office in McKinney.

Among the 32 schools in Mckinney ISD schools, McKinney Boyd High School recorded the highest enrollment of Asian students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 169 students.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
