Centennial, Independence, and Panther Creek tennis teams have advanced to the regional tournaments following their playoff victories on Tuesday. Centennial triumphed over Wakeland with a score of 10-4 in a match that featured both the District 11-5A champion (Centennial) and the 12-5A champion (Wakeland). This victory secures Centennial's place in the Class 5A Region II tournament scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
Independence also secured its spot in the regional tournament by defeating Highland Park 10-3. Both Centennial and Independence will compete in regional semifinals at Walnut Grove High School in Prosper on Thursday. Centennial is set to face Corsicana, while Independence will play against Kaufman. These two teams are currently ranked as the top two in the 5A state rankings and may potentially meet again in the regional final on Friday.
In another successful outing, Panther Creek overcame Whitesboro with a decisive 10-1 win, advancing to the 4A Region II tournament at Arlington Tennis Center. Panther Creek will compete against Wills Point on Thursday in a regional semifinal.
The state tournament is slated for October 23-24 in Waco.
