The Frisco ISD Board of Trustees has given its approval to the academic calendar for the 2025-26 school year. This decision was made during their meeting in November.
The calendar's development involved a committee comprising ten staff members, eight parents and community members, and four students from the District Advisory Council. The committee considered feedback from nearly 2,000 district staff who participated in an internal survey.
Several factors influenced the proposed calendar. These included state requirements on instruction minutes and bad weather make-up days, alignment of school breaks with neighboring districts, timing of graduation ceremonies affecting the last day of school, and teacher preferences regarding whether the first day should be a Wednesday or Thursday.
According to the approved schedule, classes will commence on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, and conclude on Friday, May 22, 2026. Bad weather make-up days are set for Monday, April 6, 2026, and Thursday, April 30, 2026.
Students will have no classes on specific dates throughout the year: September 1-2; October 10; October 13-14; November 24-28 (Thanksgiving Break); December 22-January 5 (Winter Break); January 19; February 13; February 16; March 16-20 (Spring Break); April 3; April 6 (Bad Weather Make-Up Day); and April 30 (Bad Weather Make-Up Day).
School hours remain unchanged from the current year: elementary schools operate from 7:45 a.m. to 3:05 p.m., middle schools including Wortham Intermediate from 8:25 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., and high schools from9 a.m. to4:25 p.m.
Staff calendars are anticipated to be available by January.
