The Centennial and Panther Creek girls golf teams recently secured regional titles at the 5A and 4A Region II championships, respectively. These victories have earned both teams a spot in the upcoming UIL State Championships. The girls' golf state finals are set for April 28-29, while the boys’ competition is scheduled for May 5-6.
Over in the 4A Region II tournament, Panther Creek's Grace Cronin emerged victorious with a total score of 145 over two rounds, narrowly clinching the title by three strokes. Her teammates, Gabby Olewe and Kingston Burke, also performed well, securing the third and fifth places, respectively.
In the 5A Region II category, Frisco’s Addison Reilly won the girls' title, finishing three strokes ahead of Megan Lee from Independence High School with a total score of 139. Independence’s Anika Singh took third place, and Centennial’s Lisa Zhang captured fourth place in the standings.
Among the teams, Independence and Wakeland took fourth and seventh places, respectively, in the girls' 5A Region II standings. On the boys' side of 5A Region II, Wakeland’s Luke Colton was the top FISD finisher with a fourth-place result. Additionally, Jagger Cole of Heritage High School tied for eighth place. Independence and Emerson boys teams finished eighth and tenth, respectively.
