For the second consecutive year, Frisco ISD and K12 Insight have collaborated to survey parents, staff members, and students from grades 4-12 to gather feedback on various aspects of the school and district. The areas covered in the survey included Teaching and Learning; Student Support and Relationships; Emotional and Social Support; Safety, Security, and Behavior; Interactions with School Staff; School Leadership, Culture, and Environment; Family Involvement; and Future-Ready Learner.

The results of the survey were presented to campus principals and the Board of Trustees this month by K12 Insight. The data gathered from these surveys are utilized by campuses, District leadership, and Trustees to shape campus-based and district priorities.

The survey provided valuable insights into perceptions as well as an opportunity to identify trends between the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years. The overall District Quality was rated highly by staff members (92%) and parents (89%). As for the Quality of Education, 94% of campus-based staff members rated it as Excellent or Good. This sentiment was echoed by parents and elementary students (both at 87%) and secondary students (84%).

Frisco ISD's school quality ratings are higher than last year's figures and exceed the national average of 84% for staff/parents and 70% for secondary students. In terms of Teaching and Learning, a significant majority of staff members (91%), secondary students (82%), and participating parents (80%) agreed that teachers set high expectations for students.

Moreover, a large percentage of campus-based staff (84%) believe that teachers successfully show students how lessons relate to life outside of school. However, student perception on this topic increased by only 3% from last year indicating room for improvement.

In regards to Student Support & Relationships, an overwhelming majority of staff (98%), parents (85%), & secondary students (82%) concurred that there is a staff member students can approach for help with school problems. When it comes to Safety, Security, and Student Behavior, 96% of staff members, 92% of parents, and 82% of secondary students agreed that their school is safe. However, only 79% of elementary students felt safe at school.

The survey also highlighted a high level of agreement between parents and students that teachers and staff create a welcoming environment for students. Both parents and staff agreed that their school is welcoming to all families and fosters a climate of mutual respect between the school and families.

A strong majority of parents (89%) and secondary students (85%) said students are challenged and supported in their ability to show compassion and respect toward others. Furthermore, 84% of parents and 83% of secondary students believe they are effectively taught communication skills.

Employee Experience was rated positively by 92% of participating staff members who said they enjoy being part of Frisco ISD. While 89% of campus-based staff members said teachers give helpful feedback, only 72% of secondary students shared this view.

In terms of Safety, Security, and Student Behavior, 91% of participating campus-based staff stated that the staff is responsive to bullying incidents. However, only 64% of secondary students and 62% of parents shared this view (27% of parents claimed they did not know).

Finally, Family Involvement was seen as positive by 73% of parents who said the school provides opportunities for its community to provide input on improving the school environment.

Frisco ISD regularly surveys its students, parents, and staff using third-party services for administration purposes.
