McKinney Independent School District (ISD) has announced the appointment of Jae Gaskill, a seasoned education professional, as its new Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE). Gaskill, who has been serving as the principal of McKinney North High School for the past eight years, brings over three decades of experience in education to her new role.

Gaskill's transition from high school campus to district administration comes in the wake of the recent retirement announcement by Todd Young, the Sr. Director of CTE. With 32 years in education and approximately 25 years in administrative leadership, Gaskill is poised to bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new position.

Gaskill began her career as a science teacher and coach before transitioning into administration. She served four years as a house principal at the Lowery Freshmen Center in Allen ISD and then another four years at Allen High School. In 2007, she joined MISD as the associate principal at McKinney North.

"This role provided me the opportunity to learn and grow as a teacher leader as well as helping me develop a full understanding of the interconnectedness of the programs across the campus," Gaskill said about her time at McKinney North.

Upon Principal Jimmy Spann's retirement in 2016, Gaskill was appointed principal of McKinney North. Reflecting on her tenure there, she stated: "Leading the students and staff of McKinney North has been a major highlight of my career. My goal has always been to create an environment that feels like home, develop a lifelong joy of learning, and prepare our students to be competitive in life after high school."

In her new role overseeing CTE programs across MISD, Gaskill aims to extend her leadership beyond individual campuses. "I am looking forward to working with campus leaders, CTE teachers, business partnerships, and state organizations in a way that will support student success as well as positively impact our community," she said.

Gaskill holds a bachelor’s degree in science from Stephen F. Austin University and a master’s degree in education from Texas A&M University – Commerce.
