The Frisco Cup, an annual two-day golf tournament, is set to take place on November 1-2 at the PGA Fields Ranch East and West courses. This year marks the 11th edition of the event, which combines scores from both girls' and boys' players to determine a single winner.
Liberty coach Shannon Glidwell expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming competition. "We are very excited to see our FISD golfers in action with our partners at PGA and Fields Ranch," Glidwell said. "I know the players are grateful for the chance to compete on such a prestigious layout."
All 12 Frisco ISD golf programs will participate in this year's tournament. The event kicks off at 1 p.m. on Friday with a shotgun start on the West Course. The second round is scheduled for Saturday on the East Course, beginning at 8 a.m. from holes #1 and #10.
Spectators are welcome to attend, although carts will not be permitted for fans during the event.
The Frisco Cup has been held since 2014 and stands out due to its unique format that merges boys' and girls' scores from each school to establish final team standings. Wakeland High School has claimed victory in the last two tournaments, while Centennial won in 2021, and Liberty achieved three consecutive wins from 2018-2020.
"The tournament has grown in the last 10 years, and it’s exciting to see what the next 10 years will bring," Glidwell added. "The coaches, fans, and spectators will get to watch some of the area’s and state’s best golfers competing on one of our finest golf courses. Should be a thrill for all."
