Frisco Independent School District (FISD) acknowledges the significant role of its athletic trainers, especially during National Athletic Training Month in March. Each high school within the district benefits from the expertise of two athletic trainers who contribute to both student success and the effectiveness of FISD's athletic programs.
National Athletic Training Month aims to increase awareness about the vital work performed by athletic trainers (ATs). Unlike personal trainers, ATs are healthcare professionals who work alongside physicians. They specialize in preventing, diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating injuries and sports-related illnesses.
To become an athletic trainer, individuals must earn a bachelor's degree from an accredited program and pass a national certification exam administered by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA). Many certified athletic trainers also hold advanced degrees.
Each FISD high school hosts an athletic training program led by these professionals. Student athletic trainers assist them in preventing and managing injuries, thus supporting student-athletes as they strive to achieve their goals.
"Frisco ISD is fortunate to have an excellent group of athletic trainers," said a representative from Frisco ISD. "This is a great time to recognize their contributions."
The district expresses gratitude for its dedicated team of athletic trainers who play a crucial role in maintaining the health and safety of its athletes.
